Choosing a cigar cutter is important because a cigar must receive a good cut to draw properly. There are three types of cutters to consider:
1. “Guillotine” – This makes a straight slice across the cigar’s cap line.
2. “Bullet” or “Punch” Cut – This pierces a small hole into the cigar’s cap.
3. “V” Cut – This creates a wedge shaped cut in the cigar’s cap.
When you are ready to cut your cigar, place the cutter just above the cigar’s cap line and clipped in one swift motion. This will make a clean, level, cut allowing for a perfect full-flavored draw without damaging the cigar.
