Last week, along the Hudson River in New York, about 1800 Cigar Smokers gathered for an annual event called The Big Smoke which was organized by Cigar Aficionado magazine.
As it keeps getting more and more difficult to find a place to enjoy a Cigar, these smokers were determined to enjoy every puff.
“It’s one of the great New York events. People who smoke cigars bond with each other,” said former Mayor and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, a regular at the 20-year-old annual bash, which is organized by Cigar Aficionado magazine.
Cigar Aficionado believes that there was nearly a 7% increase in demand for premium hand rolled cigars this year compared to 2012. That increase, in spite of continued smoking bans across the United States, is quite remarkable.
